About the client

Our client is a South Africa-based renewable energy division of a larger industrial technology group. Our client is headquartered in Cape Town, with distribution branches located across the country.

Our client is the largest supplier of solar systems and components to the commercial sector in South Africa, and the provider of clean energy storage, electric vehicle charging infrastructure, and solar lighting.

Key Asks:

The client partnered with an eCommerce system in 2020 to help installers design a solar system, develop proposals and contracts to close customers, and then procure the necessary hardware solutions. To have a single seamless online experience, the client contacted the SynergyTop team to integrate Shopify into their existing solution.

Their key asks were as follows:

• They wanted a seamless and secure login for their customers. They wanted to ensure that only legitimate users log in to their platform and for that, an adaptable authentication gateway was required.
• To ensure that the Enact system works as intended, the client wanted it to fetch products from the Shopify store so that the installers don’t have to go from one system to another.
• Our client wanted to get the best of both their existing solution and Shopify and wanted a smooth, hassle-free integration of both systems so that the solar installers can have a seamless experience.

Business Needs Synopsis

Based on our discussion with the client, we outlined the following business needs that had to be met:

• Provisions had to be made to ensure that the product listings on Shopify are seamlessly displayed on their existing system as well.
• To ensure the security of the integrated system, attention had to be given to the installer’s user identity along with secure login authentication.
• The client wanted to be a one-stop solution for installers, wherein they can offer solar design and proposal development platforms and at the same time also an E-Commerce platform to procure necessary hardware.

• We used the Storefront-API-SDKs to fetch the product details from the Shopify store. This saves time for the installers and our client can expect higher conversions.
• We used the Auth0 authentication to bypass the login on Shopify, as required by the client for allowing ease of access and secure login to end-users.
• Integrating multiple systems and technologies often results in a chaotic experience for end users. But our team ensured that the two platforms integrated seamless with a smooth UI/UX design.
